§ 7 TDDDG

Request for Official Identification Document

(1)Providers and participating persons under Section 3(2) sentence 1 Nos. 1 and 2 may, in connection with the establishment and modification of a contractual relationship with an end user regarding the provision of telecommunications services, request the presentation of an official identification document where this is necessary to verify the information provided by the end user. The obligation under Section 172 of the Telecommunications Act shall remain unaffected.
(2)In order to comply with the request for presentation of an official identification document, the end user may use the electronic identity verification pursuant to Section 18 of the Identity Card Act, pursuant to Section 12 of the eID Card Act, or pursuant to Section 78(5) of the Residence Act.
(3)A copy of the identification document may be made. The copy must be destroyed without delay after the information of the end user necessary for the conclusion of the contract has been ascertained. Data other than those necessary for the conclusion of the contract must not be processed in the course thereof.
